TOM FORD | Editorial | Models

Looking at TOM FORD's editorial shoots we can see he has a specific taste for female models. I would describe the facial features of the models as soft. All the female models I have seen so far have very juicy lips, face shape is oval and overall gives me the feeling of a real-life barbie dolls. Although he is famous for some of his very objectifying and ''a bit too sexy'' shoots, I have come across with many classic and sophisticated and classic looks. As I am supposed to create 2 contrasting designs (day-night,natural-extreme, etc.) I am looking at not only the make-up but the styling and location as well. Here is some examples to clarify what is going on in my head:

Ford, F. T. (2014) TFOTD: Daphne Groeneveld in TOM FORD for Numéro Russia, april 2013. Available at: http://www.fulltimeford.com/2014/05/02/daphne-groeneveld-tom-ford-spring-summer-numero-russia-april-2013/ (Accessed: 29 January 2016).
Photoshoot Details:

Showing exactly how versitile Ford's shoots are I have found a famous outfit in two diffrent editorials showing that his style could be both querky/playful or classic/elegant

on the left:
Ford, F. T. (2014) TFOTD: Karmen Pedaru wears TOM FORD S/S 2014 for Vamp magazine. Available at: http://www.fulltimeford.com/2014/04/16/karmen-pedaru-tom-ford-spring-summer-2014-vamp-magazine/ (Accessed: 29 January 2016).

on the right: Staff, W. (2014) André Leon Talley and Tom Ford team up for Numéro Russia’s march issue. Available at: http://wwd.com/globe-news/fashion-memopad/gallery/andre-leon-talley-and-tom-ford-team-up-for-numero-russias-march-issue/#!1/num233ro-conrad-bromfield-and-pat-cleveland-7524021-portrait/ (Accessed: 29 January 2016).

In fact whilst looking at the image on the right I found more images which are actually photographed by Tom Ford himself, showing another side to his personality. Again I am talking about the fact his style is versitile and is not always so classical and serious.

As we can see the make-up is more playfull and colorful as well. Elegance is brought by the style but the personality of the model and the photography by Tom Ford shows how it could all work well together.
Back to the model choices here are more examples the description I have given above, showing us THAT type of models in all the various shoots of TOM FORD:

Overall I will be looking at models with similar facial features. As we can see all of the models are either blonds or brunettes which is another factor taken under consideration. In order to create relevant images, inspired by the DNA of the brand I will be looking at the color palettes used in all shoots, the mood and the SS2016 trends which will all be discussed further in my research.
