The Hugo Boss AG, often named as BOSS, is a German luxury fashion company. It was founded in 1924 by Hugo Boss and is found in Metzingen, Germany.

Due to the economic changes of Germany by that time, Boss was forced into bankruptcy. In 1931 he signed an agreement with the creditors, they left him six sewing machines and he started again his business.

He had an early Nazi party membership, so heenjoyed  financial support of the SS and made uniforms to the Nazi party. After the WWII he was found guilty and fined for paying 100.000 DM (approx 70.000 USD).

He died in 1948, but fortunately his business survived. The first Boss fragrance appaered in 1984.
