Editorials by Tom Ford

Tom Ford is a photographer for hundreds of fashion editorials for various brands. There is a certain feel to all of his images for his own brand. There is certainly another vibe going on to all the pictures he has taken for other brands. So I am going to look at that in order to understand his style, as he has shot a lot for his own brand.

''An eight-page spread of Crystal Renn as a Jocelyn Wildenstein-esque plastic surgery addict, shot by Tom Ford and styled by Carine Roitfeld''
Ofcourse another physical, touchy, edgy&sexy shoot with Tom Ford behind the camera. He like objectifying men as much as women and shows that with many shoots. What is more interesting though is how he brings narrative to all of his editorial work. Maybe the fact that he is interested in film, directing and fashion photography really helps him create amazing imagary. I am definately now thinking about the characters I will be creating for my editorials, and how to tell a story with just static images.

Assisted by stylist Carine Roitfeld again, Tom Ford created a fairy tale series of images for  Issue 1 of Carine Roitfeld's CR Fashion Book.
here is a interesting video showing beind the scenes/making of the images LINK

All that Lucho

is wearing (when he is dressed) is provided by Tom Ford's Collections. Not only is he creating a fashion story, but also promoting his own products. I admire the fact he is so versitile and different. No matter what he does you can recognize his work by the sexiness and the baldness. He manages to show intimacy in various ways, which in my opinion get way too critisized as people are afraid of sharing moments like that with the public. But this is fashion, and he tells stories with his images that take you somewhere else. The ways he uses colours in the shoot really makes me think about using a washed out effect for my editorial shoot because it gives you that dreamy and fairytale like feeling that would help me create a story myself.
